Bonspiel 2015

From November 18 to 22, 2015 the RCD will be hosting its 9th annual wheelchair curling bonspiel tournament – 2015 Canadian Open.

Wheelchair curling tournaments have been staged at the Paralympics since the Winter Paralympic Games in 2006 in Turin. The 2014 Winter Paralympics was held in Sochi, Russia from March 7 to 16, 2014. Canada won the gold medal in wheelchair curling at Sochi, while Russia won the silver and Great Britain the bronze medal.

The 2015 World Wheelchair Curling Championship was held in Lohja, Finland from February 7-13. Gold medal went to Team Russia, Silver to Team China and Bronze to Team Finland. As of Feb.13, 2015, the current Wheelchair World Ranking Top Five, is in the order of: Canada, Russia, China, Scotland/GBR, USA.

We are happy to announce that the top two international teams, Team Canada and Team Russia, are competing in the 2015 RCD International Bonspiel – Canadian Open.

We have 10 teams competing in the bonspiel this year; it is promising to see very keen competitions among the top wheelchair curling teams in the world. You can see the top world class teams and Canadian teams competing head-to-head at the RCD Bonspiel. You will be awed by the intense and electrifying atmosphere when the athletes competing in the Round Robin and the Play-Offs.
