Over 170 friends and guests of RCD and VIPs came together at the RCD’s spectacular 25th Anniversary Celebration Gala at Executive Airport Plaza and Conference Centre on October 2. The event was dedicated to recognize 25 years’ of achievement of the RCD and to celebrate its continuation of long history of advancing inclusion, integration and empowerment of people with disabilities.
RCD Chair Vince Miele, Mayor Malcolm Brodie of City of Richmond and Richmond-Steveston MLA John Yap were the distinguished guests giving celebratory remarks for the occasion. Mr. Yap also presented to the RCD a Certificate of Appreciation to acknowledge the contribution of RCD to the Richmond community.
Highlights of the event included a performance by Tracey Bell, a renowned celebrity impersonator who won the 2009 BC Entertainer of the Year Award. Her appearance as Marilyn Monroe at the beginning set the tone to the Gala, and with her “8 Divas in 44 minutes” performance after dinner brought everyone into the Hollywood fiesta of Cher, Madonna, Liza Minnelli, Tina Turner, Marilyn Monroe, Dolly Parton, Celine Dion and Lady Gaga.
