Welcome!
This Project is offered to youth with disabilities and involves a curriculum comprised of a series of workshops and training sessions that provide opportunities to participate in a variety of interactive presentations and activities. Workshops include training sessions for 1st Aid Training, Conflict Resolution, Emergency Preparedness and many other useful self-empowering skills. With an underlying emphasis on healthy lifestyles, safe communities and independent living, the project helps prepare individuals to lead a more pro-active life in their community and encourage their leadership qualities to emerge.
In addition to the various workshops, participants also register into the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – Young Canadians Challenge, a program that encourages positive lifestyle activities such as physical fitness, community service and learning new skills, all worthwhile objectives.
The curriculum includes a Group Project that the participants will plan out, prepare for, initiate and complete. As part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award program, the group will also embark on an overnight adventurous journey.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge and experience, while at the same time you will have fun, make friends, and get involved in your community. It is made available to young persons with a disability, between the ages of 16 and 30. The generosity of our sponsors enable us to offer this project to interested youth at little or no cost, a trend we hope to continue.
The Curriculum Outline provides a good overview of the Project and an understanding of the timelines involved. If you have any questions and/or if you are interested in signing up for future sessions, contact Randall St. Godard, at 604 232 2404 or by e-mail.
